Wallis Street signs approved as Woollahra rejects 3.2-metre motorbike bay

People walking and cycling on Wallis Street, Woollahra, will see new shared-path signs and markings after the Finance, Community & Services Committee approved changes including an additional sign east of Ocean Street. The committee also rejected a proposed 3.2-metre motorbike-only parking restriction near 420 Edgecliff Road.

Existing “Bicycle Lane Continues Along Footpath” signs will be replaced with Shared Path signs at the frontage of 98 Wallis Street and west of Woods Avenue. Shared Path End signs will also be installed east of Ocean Street and west of Woods Avenue, along with shared-path logos and line marking.

The changes were approved to bring the facility into line with Australian Standards, Austroads guides and the Transport for NSW Design Toolbox. The resolution was carried unanimously by the six councillors voting.

The committee resolved not to proceed with the proposed “Motor Bike Only” restriction on the western side of Edgecliff Road near 420 Edgecliff Road, Woollahra.

In Paddington, the existing “2P 8am-11pm Permit Holders Excepted” restriction on the western side of Jersey Road near 112 Jersey Road will be extended to replace a redundant mobility-parking space. The committee also approved reinstating unrestricted parking on the southern side of Cambridge Avenue near 14 Cambridge Avenue, Vaucluse, after another redundant mobility-parking space is removed.

The investigation into intersection improvements at Cranbrook Road and Victoria Road, Bellevue Hill, was deferred to the full Council meeting on 27 July 2026. Late correspondence will address whether increased student numbers at the school have triggered a development application.

The committee also recommended public exhibition of the draft concept design for the Cecil Street, Paddington, to Trumper Park Flood Mitigation Project for 28 days. A further report will follow the exhibition and assessment of submissions.

It recommended endorsement of the Guideline for Construction Traffic Management Plan (2026). If endorsed, Council’s standard construction-traffic condition will be updated to list the required information in the guideline.
