Construction sites face clearer traffic-plan rules under Woollahra recommendation

Future construction projects across Woollahra could face more detailed traffic-management information requirements after the Finance, Community & Services Committee recommended endorsement of a new guideline on 13 July.

The committee recommended the Guideline for Construction Traffic Management Plan (2026), which sets out the information to be included in construction traffic-management plans. The recommendation was carried 6-0, with all six voting councillors supporting it and none opposed.

If Council endorses the guideline, its standard construction-traffic condition will be updated to list all required information under the guideline. The recommendation does not specify a final adoption date, implementation date, cost or construction timetable.

The guideline could affect how future construction projects document vehicle movements, safety and disruption. No separate construction timetable is attached to the recommendation.

The construction-traffic recommendation was one of several transport matters considered by the committee through Woollahra Local Traffic Forum items.

Council approved additional and replacement shared-path signs on Wallis Street, Woollahra, including east of Ocean Street, near No. 98 Wallis Street and west of Woods Avenue. Shared-path logos and line marking will also be installed.

A proposed 3.2-metre Motor Bike Only parking restriction on the western side of Edgecliff Road near No. 420, Woollahra, will not proceed.

The committee also approved an extension of the existing 2P, 8am to 11pm, permit-holders-excepted restriction on the western side of Jersey Road near No. 112, Paddington, to replace a redundant mobility-parking space.

Separately, consideration of an investigation into intersection improvements at Cranbrook Road and Victoria Road, Bellevue Hill, was deferred to full Council on 27 July 2026. Late correspondence will address whether increased student numbers at the school have triggered a development application.

The committee also recommended public exhibition of the draft concept design for the Cecil Street, Paddington, to Trumper Park Flood Mitigation Project for 28 days. A further report is to follow after submissions are assessed.
