Construction of the East Orange Harvesting Wetlands will proceed under an $8,251,396.85 contract awarded to Motive Civil and Plant Hire Pty Ltd, subject to a satisfactory financial check. The lump sum excludes GST, and Orange City Council has established a contingency provision of 10 per cent of the contract value.

The successful tender, identified as F3058, covers construction of the wetlands project in East Orange. The contract will create work for the appointed contractor and construction suppliers, although no subcontractors, local suppliers or construction timetable were specified.

The council authorised its chief executive officer to enter into the contract with Motive Civil and Plant Hire. It also authorised use of the council’s common seal on the associated contractual documents.

The contract award was approved unanimously. Mayor Tania Mileto and councillors Tanya Greenhalgh, Glenn Judge, Fred Kinghorne, David Mallard, Mel McDonell, Scott Peterson, Gary Power, Mel Ruddy and Jason Whitton voted in favour. Cr Kevin Duffy was absent.

The tender was classified as commercial information that could confer an advantage on a person with whom the council was conducting, or proposed to conduct, business. The contract remains conditional on the financial check.

The approved contingency is 10 per cent of the contract value. The resolution does not state whether that contingency includes GST, and does not provide a completion date, construction staging or arrangements for affected residents. The next formal steps are the financial check and contract execution.
