Maroondah survey results noted, but residents get no scores or service rankings

Maroondah residents have been given no scores, percentages or service rankings from the 2026 Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey after council voted to receive and note its outcomes.

The resolution was passed at Maroondah City Council’s ordinary meeting on 20 July 2026. It was moved by Cr Steane OAM and seconded by Cr Spears.

Cr Steane OAM, Cr Spears, Cr Macdonald and Cr Henderson spoke to the item.

The survey provides feedback on residents’ views of council services. The resolution did not include ratings, comparisons with earlier surveys or results broken down by service.

Residents therefore cannot tell from the council’s action whether satisfaction improved, declined or stayed the same, or which services received the strongest or weakest responses.

Council’s resolution did not attach specific service changes, targets, funding commitments or implementation dates. Its action was to receive and note the survey outcomes.

The item was considered at the same meeting as a proposal involving Donwood Community Aged Care Services and council-owned land at 53 Bronhill Road, Ringwood East, known as Bronhill Reserve.

Councillors noted Donwood’s proposal to purchase the land as part of a broader partnership connected to its adjoining community aged-care facilities. Council also resolved to begin the statutory process for the proposed sale, including public notice and community engagement, and to receive a further report before making a final decision.

Other matters included a petition seeking perimeter fencing at Gracedale Oval, Ringwood East. The petition had 20 compliant signatures and an additional 309 signatures provided as supporting material. Council did not support fencing as the most appropriate response and instead backed improved signage, responsible dog ownership messaging and targeted compliance monitoring.

Council also endorsed changes and responses to submissions for planning scheme amendment C155MARO and adopted the Maroondah Bicycle Network Plan 2025 - 2035.
