Central Coast pensioners eligible for up to $425 in 2026 - 27 council rebates

The rebate package covers ordinary rates and domestic waste charges, water supply and sewerage charges.

Eligible pensioners across the Central Coast can receive up to $425 in combined council rebates in 2026 - 27, including a maximum $250 rebate on ordinary rates and domestic waste management charges.

The rebate caps also include up to $87.50 on water supply charges and up to $87.50 on sewerage charges. Together, the three maximums total $425.

The concessions are provided under section 575 of the Local Government Act 1993. They are mandatory pension rebates, but the maximum amount will not apply automatically to every household. The rebate available will depend on the relevant charges applying to the household.

Central Coast Council fixed its ordinary and special rates, domestic waste, waste management, wastewater, water and drainage annual charges for the 2026 - 27 financial year. The individual amounts for those charges were not specified in the decision details.

The council also set the maximum interest rate on overdue rates and charges at 9.5 per cent. That rate applies to overdue accounts alongside the annual charges for the financial year.

The rebate caps were included in the council’s 2026 - 27 financial and service plans, which also cover the Delivery Program 2025 - 2029, Operational Plan 2026 - 27, Fees and Charges 2026 - 27 and Long Term Financial Plan 2026 - 2036.

The concessions directly reduce eligible older residents’ council bills across several charge categories. No separate application deadline or payment process for receiving the rebates was specified.
