A 9-6 vote clears Georges River Council’s submission on the Beverly Hills Town Centre (West) State-Assessed Rezoning Proposal before the 21 August deadline.
A proposed rezoning of Beverly Hills Town Centre (West) will be the subject of a Georges River Council submission to the NSW Government after councillors approved it 9-6, ahead of the State Government’s 21 August 2026 deadline.
The submission will go to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on the Beverly Hills Town Centre (West) State-Assessed Rezoning Proposal. Council resolved to make the submission consistent with the matters outlined in the report. The resolution did not set out the specific content of Council’s position.
The item was admitted as urgent because the submission deadline falls before the next scheduled August Council meeting on 24 August. Councillor Christina Jamieson moved the procedural motion, which also passed 9-6.
Mayor Elise Borg, Deputy Mayor Sam Stratikopoulos and councillors Matthew Allison, Oliver Dimoski, Christina Jamieson, Kathryn Landsberry, Nancy Liu, Peter Mahoney and Natalie Mort voted for the submission. Councillors Elaina Anzellotti, Tom Arthur, Thomas Gao, Gerard Hayes, Leon Pun and Ben Wang voted against it.
The rezoning decision was made at the same extraordinary meeting at which Council endorsed the Draft Beverly Hills Master Plan and associated studies for public exhibition. The exhibition will run for a minimum of 42 days from 11 August 2026.
An amendment to shorten the exhibition period to 28 days and seek alignment with the NSW Government proposal was defeated 6-9. Councillor Wang was the only councillor to vote against the final 42-day exhibition motion, which passed 14-1.
Residents, businesses and landowners can comment on the draft master plan during the exhibition period. Council will receive a further report outlining submissions and recommending any amendments after the exhibition period.
Council’s rezoning submission is due before 21 August 2026. Its submission will inform the NSW Government’s consideration of proposed planning changes affecting Beverly Hills Town Centre (West).
