Beverly Hills residents keep 42 days to comment after council rejects shorter plan exhibition
Georges River Council rejected a proposal to cut public exhibition of the Draft Beverly Hills Master Plan to 28 days, retaining a minimum 42-day period in a 14-1 vote.
Residents, businesses and landowners in Beverly Hills will have at least 42 days to comment on the Draft Beverly Hills Master Plan after Georges River Council rejected a proposal to cut the exhibition period to 28 days in a 14-1 vote.
The draft plan and associated studies will go on public exhibition from 11 August 2026. Council authorised the Director Environment and Planning to make minor editorial amendments before the exhibition begins.
Councillors Elaina Anzellotti and Ben Wang moved the amendment for a minimum 28-day exhibition period. It also proposed aligning the master plan with the NSW Government proposal, including consideration of complementary planning controls, public domain improvements and infrastructure to support Beverly Hills’ future growth and revitalisation.
Six councillors voted for the amendment and nine voted against it, so it was defeated. The original recommendation then passed with 14 votes in favour and one against. Councillor Wang was the only councillor recorded as voting against the 42-day exhibition period.
The approved period applies to the Draft Beverly Hills Master Plan and associated studies. During the exhibition, residents, businesses and landowners can review the material and make submissions.
Council will later receive a report outlining the submissions and recommending any amendments to the draft plan. No date has been set for that report.
The meeting also dealt with the Beverly Hills Town Centre (West) State-Assessed Rezoning Proposal. Council resolved to make a submission to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on the proposal, consistent with the matters outlined in the report.
Councillors admitted the rezoning item as urgent because the State Government submission deadline is 21 August 2026, while the August Council Meeting is scheduled for 24 August. The separate submission concerns the Beverly Hills Town Centre (West) area and must be made before the deadline.
