Beverly Hills residents get at least 42 days to comment on draft master plan

Beverly Hills residents, property owners and businesses will have at least 42 days to comment on the Draft Beverly Hills Master Plan after Georges River Council rejected a proposal to cut the exhibition period to 28 days.

Councillors voted 14-1 to exhibit the draft plan and associated studies from 11 August 2026. Councillor Ben Wang was the only councillor to oppose the final resolution.

The amendment, moved by Councillors Elaina Anzellotti and Ben Wang, would have set a 28-day exhibition period and called for the plan to be aligned with the NSW Government proposal. It also included consideration of planning controls, public domain improvements and infrastructure to support Beverly Hills’ future growth and revitalisation.

The amendment was defeated six votes to nine. The approved resolution allows the Director Environment and Planning to make minor editorial amendments before the exhibition begins.

Council must also receive a further report on submissions made during the exhibition period, along with any recommended changes to the draft plan.

Three people were listed in the public forum on the master plan. Iain McDonald was recorded as against the proposal. Warren Chen and Eddie Ren were also listed as against it, with pecuniary interests noted. Councillor Nancy Liu tabled a document in Chinese.

Councillors separately voted 9-6 to make a submission to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on the Beverly Hills Town Centre (West) State-Assessed Rezoning Proposal. The submission is due before the State Government’s 21 August deadline.

The rezoning proposal concerns Beverly Hills Town Centre (West), while the draft master plan and associated studies cover Beverly Hills. Public submissions will be considered in a later Council report, with any recommended amendments to follow that process.
