Two 12-metre construction zones approved for Lidcombe redevelopment sites
Bank Street and Delhi Street will each lose kerbside space to works zones operating during set weekday and Saturday hours for six months, with applicants paying Council’s adopted fees.
Redevelopment applicants in Lidcombe will receive two 12-metre construction works zones on Bank Street and Delhi Street, restricting kerbside use from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 4pm on Saturdays.
The Cumberland Local Transport Forum approved the zones for six months, with an extension possible if required. Both are on the frontages of redevelopment sites and are subject to Cumberland Council’s standard conditions.
Applicants must pay Council’s adopted Works Zone fees before the zones are implemented. The fee amount and the names of the redevelopment projects were not specified.
The zones will reserve a combined 24 metres of kerb space for construction activity during the signed hours. Nearby residents, visitors, pedestrians and drivers will face changes to parking and access around the two sites.
The forum resolved both works-zone items by exception under Part 1 of its terms of reference, which covers matters recommended for approval under delegated authority. Council and the applicants must complete implementation in accordance with the conditions and fee requirements.
The Lidcombe approvals were among transport, parking and road-safety matters considered at the 5 August forum. Other recommendations included pedestrian warning signs on John Street between Edith Street and Frampton Street, Lidcombe.
The forum also requested that Transport for NSW consider reducing the John Street speed limit from 60 km/h to 50 km/h. The concerned resident is to be notified.
Separate parking and signage matters included proposed changes near Westmead Public School and Merrylands Train Station. A proposed change on Moree Avenue, Westmead, would replace P30-minute, school-day signage with no-parking signage from 8am to 4pm on school days, subject to consultation with the school.
The Railway Terrace, Merrylands, proposal would replace existing 90-degree angle-parking signage on the western side of the street, next to Merrylands Train Station. Affected residents or applicants are to be notified of relevant outcomes.
