Woollahra Council records August finances as annual accounts head to audit

Woollahra Municipal Council has received and noted its August 2026 financial report, recording a regular update on its financial position and performance in a unanimous 15-0 vote on 14 September.

The report covers the month ended 31 August 2026. The committee’s resolution did not include a new rate, fee, borrowing decision or project allocation.

A separate recommendation dealt with Council’s unaudited financial statements for the year ended 30 June 2026. The statements were prepared under the Local Government Act 1993, Australian Accounting Standards and the Local Government Code of Accounting Practice and Financial Reporting.

The recommendation states that the statements fairly present Council’s operating result and financial position, accord with its accounting and other records, and are not known to contain anything false or misleading.

It also recommends referring the statements to the Audit Office of NSW for audit. The recommendation authorises the Mayor, one other councillor, the General Manager and the Responsible Accounting Officer to sign the statements.

The intended meeting for public presentation of the audited financial statements and Auditor’s Report is the Ordinary Council Meeting on 26 October 2026, subject to receipt of the Auditor’s Reports. The General Manager would have authority to set the meeting date after the reports are received, in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993.

For ratepayers, the immediate outcome is Council’s formal acknowledgement of its latest monthly financial report. The annual accounts will provide the next public update once the audit process is complete.
