Wangara facility gives Waste Service Fee payers a drop-off option for e-waste and hazardous waste
Waste Service Fee payers can use the Wangara facility at 70 Motivation Drive for e-waste, hazardous waste and other materials that cannot go in kerbside bins.
Wanneroo residents who pay the Waste Service Fee can take e-waste, cardboard, expanded polystyrene, scrap metal and household hazardous waste to the Wangara Recycling Facility at 70 Motivation Drive. The City’s waste committee received the quarterly operations report unanimously, 7-0.
Household hazardous waste accepted at the facility includes used engine oil, batteries, compact fluorescent lamps, mobile phones and printer cartridges. Residents can also drop off clean green waste using annual green waste vouchers and collect shredded green waste and compost with those vouchers.
The report records a change to kerbside recycling from 1 July 2026. Commingled recycling collected by City vehicles is now routed through Wangara before being transported to a processor in Canning Vale.
Verge-side hard waste is sorted at Wangara to remove recyclable material. Remaining waste is being transported to Tamala Park landfill on an interim basis.
The City’s household collection model remains weekly general waste, fortnightly commingled recycling and fortnightly garden organics collections where mandatory service requirements apply. Garden organics are delivered to Wangara before being transported to the Gingin processing site.
Waste Services operates with 62 operational staff and 19 administrative staff. The City is continuing to develop its Strategic Waste Plan, including alternative service delivery models and associated fee structures. No new charge was adopted at the meeting.
Formal waste guidelines for new and redeveloped buildings remain on hold. The next Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for 6pm on Monday 19 October 2026.
