Lease over Marcoola council land approved for Kabi Kabi corporation without tender

Sunshine Coast Council has approved a lease over council land at 334 Finland Road, Marcoola to the Kabi Kabi Peoples Aboriginal Corporation Limited, using an exception to the usual requirement to dispose of an interest in land by tender or auction.

The decision was carried unanimously at the council's ordinary meeting on 29 January 2026. In the resolution, councillors noted the report on the proposed lease and found an exception applied under section 236(1) of the Local Government Regulation 2012 because the Kabi Kabi Peoples Aboriginal Corporation Limited is a community organisation and registered charity.
