Coral Sea Park bubbler backed for Maroubra United, pending budget review

Randwick councillors backed a new water bubbler beside Coral Sea Park’s synthetic field, with installation dependent on a favourable first-quarter 2026-27 budget review.

Maroubra United Football Club’s push for a new water bubbler at Coral Sea Park has won council support, with the installation now dependent on a favourable quarterly budget review in the first quarter of 2026-27.

Mayor D Parker’s motion also asked staff to begin planning the procurement and installation of the bubbler, with the final location to be chosen in consultation with Maroubra United Football Club.

Council noted the club now has almost 1700 members this season and said its needs are continuing to evolve.

The bubbler would be installed adjacent to the synthetic field at Coral Sea Park, ahead of any wider upgrade to facilities. The club had asked for the bubbler before any broader redevelopment of the site.

Council also noted it is already allowing extended Friday-night use of the synthetic field and is investigating, in future capital works programming, reconstruction of the existing amenities building to accommodate the continued growth of soccer at Coral Sea Park.

The request sits inside a broader set of council decisions from Tuesday night, including the 2026-27 budget, rates and fees, and a revised tree canopy target of 19% by 2060.

For Maroubra United, the bubbler is a practical addition to a busy sporting site. If the budget review is favourable, staff will move to procurement and installation at a location agreed with the club.
