Matraville SES facility moves into design phase after Randwick Council vote

The proposed Randwick State Emergency Service facility at 1903 and 1905R Botany Road, Matraville, will move into concept and detailed design after Randwick City Council supported the procurement of a lead architect and associated professional services.

The resolution on 22 September followed feasibility studies into the facility. Council noted the studies’ findings and supported engaging the design team, but did not approve construction.

The procurement will cover the project’s concept design and detailed design documentation.

The final concept design must return to Council before it is placed on public exhibition. Matraville residents and other members of the public will have an opportunity to comment on the design at that later stage.

Councillors P Veitch and A Luxford moved the resolution, which was carried.

The resolution did not state the procurement value, construction cost, delivery timetable or number of professional services contracts to be awarded. It also did not approve a final design or construction works.

The facility is one of several projects considered by Randwick City Council as part of its 22 September meeting. For local suppliers and contractors, the immediate next step is the procurement of the lead architect and associated professional team. For residents, the next formal opportunity to comment will come when the concept design is exhibited.
