Matraville RSL car park upgrade gets joint funding backing

The 1P Norfolk Parade car park in Matraville will be upgraded through a joint funding arrangement involving Randwick City Council, Matraville RSL Club and Sydney Catholic Schools.

Council endorsed the partnership and noted that funding is available in the 2026-27 Operational Plan and Budget’s Capital Works Program. The arrangement provides a council-backed funding path for improvements at the Matraville RSL car park.

The resolution does not specify the project’s total cost, construction date or the works to be carried out. No contractor or supplier has been named.

Council also authorised the General Manager to formally request that Crown Lands transfer care and control of the site to Randwick City Council. Any future lease, licence or management arrangements would require a further report to Council.

The car park upgrade is one of two Matraville infrastructure projects advanced by Council. It also supported the procurement of a lead architect and associated professional services for concept and detailed design work on the Randwick State Emergency Services facility at 1903 and 1905R Botany Road, Matraville.

The SES facility’s final concept design must return to Council before it is placed on public exhibition.

For the Norfolk Parade car park, the next steps are to progress the joint funding arrangement and formally approach Crown Lands about care and control of the site. Future operating arrangements remain subject to a further Council report.

The project brings the council, the RSL club and Sydney Catholic Schools into a shared funding arrangement for a car park used by the RSL, the school and the surrounding community.
