Jayson Avenue property owners and road users face a scheduled construction period after Nillumbik Shire Council awarded MJ Construction Group Pty Ltd a $312,921.40 contract for the Special Charge Scheme project.

Works are scheduled to begin on 7 September 2026 and finish on 18 December 2026. The contract has no listed options.

Council also approved a $62,584.28 contingency. The contract price and contingency are both exclusive of GST, bringing the approved total to $375,505.68 before tax.

The project will be delivered through the Jayson Avenue Special Charge Scheme, which applies to affected property owners. Road users will also be affected by construction activity during the scheduled term.

The chief executive officer or delegate was authorised to finalise and execute the contract documentation. That officer or delegate can also approve additional cost variations caused by unknown latent site conditions or changes to operational requirements, provided the variations remain within the total approved project budget.

Any variation above the approved budget will require a further Council resolution.

Council resolved to make the contract decision public and name MJ Construction Group as the preferred tenderer. The tender evaluation report remains confidential.

The contract was approved unanimously on 25 August 2026. No details were provided about individual work stages, temporary road closures, traffic controls or access arrangements during construction.

The scheduled work period gives Jayson Avenue property owners and road users a clear timeframe for the project, while limiting spending above the approved budget unless councillors approve it again.
