Wahroonga, St Ives and Bobbin Head events share in $93,900 Ku-ring-gai sponsorship package
Ku-ring-gai Council approved funding for fairs, festivals, races, sporting competitions and cultural programs across the area for 2026 - 27.
Events in Wahroonga, St Ives and Bobbin Head are among the recipients of $93,900 in Ku-ring-gai Council sponsorship approved for the 2026 - 27 program.
The largest event allocations are $12,000 for the Wahroonga Village Fair, $9,000 for the Bobbin Head Cycle Classic, $8,000 for the Wahroonga Food and Wine Festival and $7,000 for St Ives Food and Wine. Sparkling Wahroonga will receive $6,250.
The package also includes $5,000 for the Ku-ring-gai Chase Fun Run, $4,000 each for the Bare Creek Trail Run and Sydney Backyard Ultra, and $600 for the Halloween Spooktacular. The Pymble Fun Run will receive $1,550.
Cultural and general sponsorship includes $25,000 for Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra annual programs and $3,000 for the Welcome Basket. Smaller allocations include $2,500 for the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize, $2,000 each for the Spirit of Ku-ring-gai prize money and Ku-ring-gai Shield Competition, and $1,000 for the Ku-ring-gai Local Business Expo.
The World Food Festival, Pickleball Event and “Sandwich” Holiday Program were listed at $0. A Family Fun Fair withdrew its application.
The sponsorship resolution passed without opposition at the ordinary meeting on 18 August. The recorded vote listed Mayor Christine Kay and councillors Iain Balachandran, Michael Devlin, Samuel Ngai, Jeff Pettett, Christine Spencer, Alec Taylor, Barbara Ward and Kevin Wheatley in favour. Councillor Martin Smith was absent.
The approved funding gives event organisers and community groups a confirmed list of council-supported activities for 2026 - 27, including programs likely to affect local trading activity and participation in Wahroonga, St Ives, Bobbin Head and surrounding areas.
