South Turramurra residents have asked Ku-ring-gai Council for temporary 2P or 4P parking limits near Vernon Street facilities during the Ryde - Pymble Pipeline Upgrade, while other petitions sought changes to local dog facilities. Council referred the requests to officers without making immediate changes.

The Vernon Street petition sought time limits on the remaining public parking bays beside the South Turramurra Dog Oval and Vernon Street Children’s Playground. It said two bays outside the playground were blocked by temporary fencing, while other spaces were cordoned off for construction materials, machinery, toilets and project vehicles.

It also alleged contractor staff were using the remaining untimed spaces to park private commuter vehicles for eight to 10 hours. The petition described the area as a multi-use community hub for dog owners, families, older residents and people with mobility challenges.

Separate petitions sought airlock gates at the fenced off-leash dog facility at Kissing Point Village Green and expanded dog access at Howson Oval during the pipeline works. The petitions received by Council had between 113 and 119 signatures.

Councillors resolved on 18 August to receive the petitions and refer them to the appropriate officers for attention. The referral did not impose parking limits, install gates or approve expanded dog access. No follow-up timing was specified.

A separate petition, signed by 24 current and former Thursday Night Social Tennis participants, asked Council to reduce the existing maximum of 24 players per Thursday session. It said players were spending too much time waiting and not enough time playing. That petition was also referred to an officer, with no immediate change to the participant cap.

Council has reaffirmed support for Sydney Water’s pipeline project. Before considering licences over Council-owned land, it required information showing that reasonably practicable measures to reduce impacts on trees, biodiversity, public land, traffic, access, safety, parking and residential amenity had been investigated.
