Ipswich City Council’s Infrastructure, Planning and Assets Committee has approved the Warrill Park Lawn Cemetery Master Plan and Land Management Plan, but left Annexure 3, the nursery concept design, for later consideration at a future meeting.

The decision was made at the committee’s 16 June 2026 meeting at council’s Ipswich chambers, after councillors agreed to a motion that approved the plan "with the exception of Annexure 3, Warrill Park Lawn Cemetery Nursery Concept Design (Attachment 7) which will be considered at a future meeting of Council."

The cemetery item was lifted from the table before the vote. Councillors then dealt with an amended recommendation that kept the main master plan and land management plan intact while removing the nursery annexure.

The report said the original Warrill Park Lawn Cemetery master plan was approved in 2013. It was revised because of flooding, changing community needs and improved land management, after earlier council resolutions in 2023 and consultation on the updated plan.

Councillor Paul Tully declared a declarable conflict of interest in the cemetery item because he is a trustee of Goodna Cemetery, appointed by the State Government. The committee decided he could continue to take part in the matter, including voting.

The committee also received and noted a response to a Notice of Motion about the Law Street, Byrne Street and Mary Street intersections and the Law Street and Bognuda Street intersection in Bundamba. The minutes do not record any upgrade decision for those roads.

Two provisional projects were approved to progress to design and construction under the Capital Investment in Provisional Projects Policy. They are a $10,000 concrete slab for the skate park at Redbank Plains Recreation Reserve and a $17,500 basketball hoop assembly at Marburg Community Oval.

The committee also noted a status report on current Planning and Environment Court actions linked to development planning applications. No case outcome was recorded.

The meeting started at 9.01am and closed at 10.06am.
