Cabonne Council has awarded the Memorial Park restoration contract in Eugowra to Proxy Civil for $636,439.50 excluding GST.
Cabonne Council has awarded the restoration of Eugowra Memorial Park to Proxy Civil, locking in a $636,439.50 contract excluding GST at its ordinary meeting in Molong on Tuesday, 26 May.
The tender was dealt with in closed session. Councillors awarded Tender 1941552, Restoration of Eugowra Memorial Park, and gave the General Manager delegation to execute the contract.
The park job was one of several spending items before council. Members also approved $26,000 in event sponsorship funding and $38,230.87 in Cabonne Community Grant Funding, and authorised a $13,713 amendment to the 2026/27 budget for the Emergency Services Levy.
The event sponsorship money was split three ways: $9,000 to Canowindra Fine Music Incorporated for Baroquefest 2026, $15,000 to Orange Field Days Co-op for the 2026 Australia National Field Days and $2,000 to New Vogue and Social Dance Group for the 2026 12-hour dance.
In the community grant round, council backed $30,730.87 under the Cabonne Community Assistance Program and $7,500 under the Village Enhancement Program. The projects included Landauer Park toilet upgrades in Cudal, Cumnock Show fencing improvements, Eugowra club house security, furniture for the Eugowra Show Society community hall office, window upgrades for Molong District Pre School Inc, roller blinds for Nashdale Lidster Public Hall and garden improvements at Buckinbah Park for Yeoval Historical Society.
Council also accepted valuation reports for the Molong Creek Dam to Molong raw water replacement project. It authorised the General Manager to negotiate easement acquisition terms and authorised the Mayor and General Manager to execute the documents needed to finalise the acquisition of easements.
The meeting also endorsed the NSW Government Go FOGO grant funding and a bin rollout timeline from January 2028. Councillors adopted the draft Voluntary Planning Agreements Policy for 28 days of public exhibition and adopted four asset management plans covering community and recreation facilities, flooding and drainage, plant and depots, and transport.
One of the more closely watched items was councillor pay. Council rejected an amendment to keep councillor fees at $18,890 and instead backed the tribunal-linked rise to $19,590 from 1 July 2026, with the mayoral fee set at $42,030.
Councillors also agreed to investigate the proposed extension of Browns Avenue to Hospital Lane in Canowindra and report back after consultation with NSW Health. The Local Traffic Committee was also asked to report on safety concerns at the Crockett’s Lane intersection off the Mitchell Highway.
