Cabonne skips January meeting as late-2026 timetable is reshaped
The November and December ordinary meetings will be held on 17 November and 15 December, while four standing committee meetings will not go ahead.
Cabonne Council has cancelled four standing committee meetings and will hold no ordinary meeting in January 2027, changing when residents across the local government area can attend meetings, follow decisions and make submissions.
The November ordinary meeting will be held on Tuesday, 17 November 2026. The December ordinary meeting will follow on Tuesday, 15 December.
There will be no ordinary council meeting in January 2027. Cabonne can instead call an extraordinary meeting in January or February if necessary.
The Community, Economy and Culture and Infrastructure (Transport) standing committees will not meet in November. The Environment, Innovation and Energy and Infrastructure (Community) committees will not meet in December.
Residents planning to raise a local issue or make a submission should check the revised timetable rather than rely on the usual monthly schedule.
The timetable was approved at Cabonne Council’s ordinary meeting on 25 August 2026. Councillors also adopted the update of the 2025/2026 Operational Plan to 30 June 2026 and the Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2026 - 2030.
The disability plan was adopted after council noted that no formal written submissions had been received during the public exhibition period and that Molong Advancement Group had lodged a late submission.
Other decisions at the meeting included awarding Patto’s Building and Construction Pty Ltd the $540,419.78 CAP24-001 contract for Molong Showground amenities and hockey dugouts, excluding GST.
Councillors refused, unanimously among those present, Development Application 2026/0155 for demolition of former stables at 44 Riddell Street, Molong. They approved applications for a function centre modification at 296 Favell Road, Byng, and alterations and additions at 59 Gidley Street, Molong, both subject to conditions.
Council also supported a motion to the 2026 Local Government NSW Conference opposing reductions in disaster recovery funding under proposed national disaster-management reforms, while supporting continued advocacy by the Central NSW Joint Organisation.
