Boylson Pty Ltd will take the Bronte House refurbishment to contract at $530,800 excluding GST, with a separate tearoom and commercial-use expression of interest planned within six months.

Waverley Council has accepted Boylson Pty Ltd as the preferred head contractor for the $530,800 refurbishment of Bronte House, excluding GST, allowing the heritage property project to proceed to contract.

The General Manager or delegate was authorised to enter into the contract and notify unsuccessful tenderers. The tender evaluation was treated as confidential because it contained commercial information that could prejudice the position of the people or companies that supplied it.

A separate expression-of-interest process will begin within six months for commercial use of Bronte House, including a tearoom service. The outcome will guide any additional capital works needed to support community access and tearoom requirements.

No tearoom operator has been selected, and no opening date or further project cost was specified.

The Bronte House contract was one of several procurement and community-service decisions made by councillors on 4 August. Bondi Beach Community Markets Inc was accepted as the preferred operator of the Roscoe Street Mall Market at Bondi Beach for $315,000 excluding GST, with the contract to run for five years.

Councillors also resolved to continue the North Bondi community shareboard program under a new memorandum of understanding. The General Manager or delegate was authorised to negotiate and finalise the agreement.

For Bronte House, the next steps are to execute the refurbishment contract, notify unsuccessful tenderers and begin the separate commercial-use expression-of-interest process within six months. Any tearoom and related access works will follow that process.
