Shoalhaven forum backs ANZAC Day 2026 road closures across the region
Temporary traffic changes for ANZAC Day services and marches were reviewed for sites across Shoalhaven, with Bomaderry rail station access to remain open for buses and taxis.
Temporary road closures for ANZAC Day 2026 services and marches across Shoalhaven have been reviewed by the Shoalhaven Local Transport Forum, clearing the way for approval under delegated authority.
At its 14 April meeting, the forum recommended the package of road closures proceed under the listed Traffic Guidance Schemes. The minutes also record that Transport for NSW had assessed and processed Road Occupancy Licences for Princes Highway closures in Milton.
One practical issue raised during the meeting was access to Bomaderry rail station during closures on Meroo Street. Premier Buses asked whether the station would remain reachable, and council staff confirmed access for public transport commuters would be maintained, including for taxis and buses.
For residents, that points to temporary disruptions around ANZAC Day events in several parts of the local government area, including Bomaderry and Milton, while preserving public transport access to the station in Bomaderry.
The same meeting also supported other traffic changes tied to upcoming events and development. The forum had no objection to the 2026 Nowra Waterdragons Dragon Boat Regatta at North Nowra, subject to the event traffic plans being carried out in accordance with the nominated traffic control standard.
During that item, council staff said the public would still be able to access the Nowra Golf Club, although one car park would be closed and another further along in front of the golf course would remain open. Staff also said temporary No Stopping signs on Fairway Drive were only for the event and intended to stop parking along the road edge.
The forum also supported proposed Give Way restrictions linked to development application DA22/1784 at 189 Prince Edward Avenue, Culburra Beach. After a query from Transport for NSW, council staff agreed the centre line should be extended to the Give Way hold line.
The ANZAC Day closures, the North Nowra event traffic plan and the Culburra Beach Give Way restrictions were all recommended for approval by the Director City Services under delegated authority. The public minutes record those recommendations were approved on 16 April 2026.
