Drivers parking along Lawrence Avenue, Nowra, will face a 1/4P time restriction after Shoalhaven City Council’s Local Transport Forum supported the proposed signs preferred by Waminda. The recommendation was approved by the Director City Services on 17 August 2026.

The restriction is covered by signage plan D26/265273 and will limit parking duration along Lawrence Avenue. The number of spaces affected and the date of installation were not specified.

Liza Butler MP asked during the forum’s 11 August meeting whether the proposed restriction met Waminda’s operational requirements. Council staff said consultation had been undertaken with Waminda and confirmed the organisation’s preferred option was the proposed 1/4P restriction.

The forum supported the signage proposal by consent. The restriction will affect parking duration and availability near Waminda’s operations.

The Lawrence Avenue proposal was one of four transport recommendations approved under the Director City Services’ delegated authority. The others covered a pedestrian refuge and Keep Left signs at 15 North Street, Nowra; a traffic management plan for the 2026 Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival; and revised raised-crossing advisory signs at 41 Main Road, Cambewarra.

At 41 Main Road, the raised-crossing advisory speed signs will change from 20 km/h to 25 km/h. The possible installation of a W8-31 Raised Crossing supplementary warning sign will be noted and considered by the applicant.

The forum also supported the pedestrian refuge and Keep Left signs at 15 North Street, subject to consideration of maximising the refuge width where practicable and compatible with vehicle turning paths. The refuge has a 2.0-metre storage width, which complies with TfNSW Technical Direction TDT 2011/01a, Pedestrian Refuges.

The forum supported the traffic management plan for the 2026 Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival. The TfNSW Events Team may request further information during its assessment.

Pedestrian safety concerns on Reg Wilson Way, Greenwell Point, were referred to relevant Council officers. They will review previous investigations and current maintenance requirements and provide a response to Liza Butler MP.
