Cambewarra raised-crossing signs approved for 25 km/h advisory speed
Raised-crossing advisory signs at the 41 Main Road subdivision will change from 20 km/h to 25 km/h, while a supplementary warning sign remains for the applicant to consider.
Advisory speed signs at raised crossings in the residential subdivision at 41 Main Road, Cambewarra, will change from 20 km/h to 25 km/h, following approval of the site’s signage and linemarking proposal.
The Shoalhaven Local Transport Forum supported the revised speed guidance after Justin Miles of Transport for NSW asked for the crossing speed to be confirmed. Kevin Norwood, the Director City Services, approved the recommendation under delegated authority from Shoalhaven City Council on 17 August 2026.
The proposal covers Stage 6 of residential subdivision RA21/1003/7 and includes signage and linemarking associated with the raised threshold treatments. The 25 km/h advisory speed is described as consistent with the standard advisory speed sign series.
Transport for NSW also raised the possible use of a W8-31 Raised Crossing supplementary warning sign. The sign is not specifically required under the current standard. The recommendation records that the TfNSW comment is to be noted and considered by the applicant for network consistency.
The approved change affects driver guidance and pedestrian-crossing treatments at the Cambewarra subdivision. The available decision does not specify when the signs or linemarking will be installed.
The Cambewarra recommendation was one of four local transport proposals approved by the Director City Services on 17 August. The other approved items covered traffic management for the 2026 Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival, a pedestrian refuge and Keep Left signage at 15 North Street, Nowra, and 1/4P time-restricted parking signage along Lawrence Avenue, Nowra.
The forum also referred pedestrian safety concerns on Reg Wilson Way, Greenwell Point, to relevant Council officers. Officers are to review previous investigations and current maintenance requirements and provide a response to Liza Butler MP.
For the Cambewarra subdivision, implementation will proceed through the approved signage and linemarking proposal. Consideration of the additional warning sign remains with the applicant.
