Shoalhaven City Council’s financial oversight committees will continue examining major projects worth more than $10 million, budget reporting and the long-term affordability of council services through September 2027.

The Finance and Infrastructure Review Panel and the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee will focus on financial sustainability, service-delivery information and risk oversight as part of the renewed committee system.

The arrangements do not approve a new major project or allocate a new project budget. They provide an ongoing framework for reviewing major spending and how it affects Council’s financial position and services.

Council also transferred responsibility for accounting for interment rights to the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee. The resolution passed 11 votes to two, with Clr Krikstolaitis and Clr Norris opposed.

Other groups renewed through September 2027 include the Affordable Housing Action Taskforce, Land Use Planning and Development Advisory Committee, Low-Cost Rental Initiative Working Group and Rural Fire Service Strategic Planning Committee.

The continued committees will advise across finance, infrastructure, housing, planning and rural fire services. The system also includes the Aboriginal Advisory Committee, Inclusion and Access Advisory Committee, Natural Area Volunteers Group, Shoalhaven City Mayor’s Relief Fund, Shoalhaven Motor Sports Working Group and Youth Advisory Committee.

Council will receive further reports after reviews of several committees, including the Aboriginal Advisory Committee, Youth Advisory Committee, Affordable Housing Action Taskforce and Land Use Planning and Development Advisory Committee.
