Scenic Rim Regional Council has refused a development application for animal keeping at 1-9 Donald Court, Tamborine.

According to the minutes of the council's 29 April 2026 ordinary meeting, councillors refused application MCU23/090 after finding it conflicted with the Scenic Rim Planning Scheme 2020 and the Animal Keeping Code, and that those conflicts could not be resolved by conditions.

The decision means the proposal, as lodged for the Donald Court site, will not proceed.

The minutes also record that Cr Kerri Cryer declared a declarable conflict of interest on the item because she had been part of a local community group that made a submission about the application before she was elected. She left the room and took no part in discussion on the matter.

The refusal was one of several planning and policy decisions made at the meeting. Council also endorsed Draft Amendment No.8 of the Scenic Rim Planning Scheme for public consultation, while a separate operational works application for a pylon sign at 165-183 Long Road, Tamborine Mountain, was deferred to a later ordinary meeting.

The source package does not include the full text of council's formal refusal reasons beyond the finding that the application conflicted with the planning scheme and code and could not be conditioned into compliance.
