Kensington student housing must add 37 bike spaces and three e-bike chargers
The Randwick Local Planning Panel has required 19 motorcycle spaces and an onsite waste system for the 200-room project at 153-157A Anzac Parade and 7 Addison Street.
A proposed 200-room student accommodation development in Kensington must provide 37 bicycle and e-bike spaces, including at least three charging points, and 19 motorcycle spaces.
The Randwick Local Planning Panel granted deferred commencement consent for the nine-storey project at 153-157A Anzac Parade and 7 Addison Street. The basement plan also includes four car spaces and a future six-metre-wide shared way.
Amended architectural plans and supporting documents must be submitted before the relevant construction certificate. The development must be used only for student accommodation.
Waste collection must take place wholly within the site. The loading bay must either accommodate an 8.8-metre medium rigid vehicle, with swept-path analysis submitted to Council’s satisfaction, or use an alternative onsite arrangement supported by an amended Operational Waste Management Plan and swept-path analysis.
Collection from Addison Street is not supported, and bins cannot be presented in the public domain. The final arrangement must show how a waste vehicle enters, manoeuvres within and exits the site, where it stands during collection and how bins move between storage and the collection point.
The bin holding room must accommodate five 660-litre general-waste bins, four 660-litre recycling bins and six 240-litre food-organics bins. Private waste collection for the co-living component is limited to twice weekly.
The approved ground-floor co-living gymnasium and wellness area must be removed and converted to retail, commercial and/or business space capable of operating independently from the accommodation. The manager’s room and associated facilities must be removed from the ground floor and incorporated into the first-floor communal living area.
Randwick City Council must approve the amended plans, waste-management documents and access arrangements before the relevant construction certificate and before operation, subject to the applicable consent conditions.
