Five objections have been lodged against a proposed charge to seal and upgrade the Wattle Glen road between 29 Lorimer Road and Reynolds Road.

Five of the six affected Lorimer Road property owners who made submissions have objected to a proposed special charge for sealing and upgrading the Wattle Glen road.

The Nillumbik Shire Council Planning and Consultation Committee has requested a further report for the Council meeting on 24 November 2026, when councillors will consider whether to declare the charge.

The proposed scheme covers Lorimer Road between 29 Lorimer Road and Reynolds Road. Council notified affected owners of the proposal by letter on 30 July, with notices also published in The Age and on Council’s website. Submissions and objections were due by 28 August.

One owner changed their position from support to objection. That reduced recorded support for the scheme from 65 per cent to 61 per cent, or 14 of the 23 property owners.

Elsa Jackson, Maria Apostolopoulos, Robert King and Justin Rhoderick addressed the committee on 13 October. Acting under delegation from Council, the committee unanimously acknowledged and considered the six submissions and the presentations.

The committee did not declare the charge. It requested the further report before Council considers the proposal on 24 November.

The confidential, unredacted copies of the written submissions will remain unavailable to the public under section 3(1)(f) of the Local Government Act 2020.

Affected owners will not know whether the charge will proceed until Council considers the declaration. If declared, the scheme would fund sealing and upgrading the specified section of Lorimer Road.
