Liverpool City Council has put its draft 2026-27 budget and long-term financial plan on public exhibition after endorsing the package at its ordinary meeting on 18 May 2026.

The material includes the Revenue Pricing Policy, the Long-Term Financial Plan and the 2026-27 Capital Works Program. The draft budget will be open for 28 days, from 20 May to 16 June 2026.

Councillors also approved funding reallocations that include $675,000 for parks service provision and $400,000 for the Ernie Smith Reserve upgrade. The money is to come from strategic events.

The Draft Delivery Program 2025-2029 and Operational Plan 2026-2027 were also endorsed for public exhibition for 28 days, from 19 May to 15 June 2026. A further report will come back to council after submissions are considered at the June 2026 meeting.

The meeting also dealt with internal reserve settings. Council adopted most of the recommendations on internally restricted cash reserves, but left out the Moorebank Intermodal Ex-Gratia Payments Reserve after debate and an amendment. The final motion was carried.

Council also endorsed proposed amendments to the Planning Agreements Policy and Liverpool Development Control Plan 2008 for public exhibition for a minimum of 28 days. If submissions are received, councillors will receive a post-exhibition report.

Other items included work with the NSW Rural Fire Service to pursue Liverpool Powerhouse as the venue for the annual awards ceremony. Council also endorsed a $15,000 Matching Grant for Autism Advisory and Support Service and $6,992 for The City of Liverpool & District Historical Society Inc for a Liverpool history exhibition.

Council is due to report back on submissions for the draft budget and associated plans before 30 June 2026. The Delivery Program and Operational Plan are to return to the June meeting.
