Ipswich adopts 2026-27 fees and charges
Ipswich City Council has adopted its 2026-27 fee schedule, with new charges taking effect from 1 July, alongside easements, procurement and governance decisions.
Ipswich City Council has adopted its 2026-27 fees and charges after a Finance and Governance Committee meeting that also backed easements for Urban Utilities, a new records management contract and governance updates.
The committee met on 19 May 2026. Councillors adopted the proposed 2026-2027 Fees and Charges, including all fee policies, with an effective date of 1 July 2026. The resolution excludes the fees and charges for Animal Management, Public Health, Food Business and Road Regulation licences and associated services adopted on 17 March 2026.
Council also resolved to dispose of part of its land at 214 Chermside Road, Basin Pocket, by easement to Central SEQ Distributor-Retailer Authority, trading as Urban Utilities, for sewerage purposes. The report said the easement will facilitate upgraded infrastructure for the Chermside Road Pump Station and the Bundamba Sewerage Treatment Plant, creating a new sewer line. The committee said an exemption under the Local Government Regulation 2012 applies and delegated authority to the chief executive officer to negotiate and finalise the easement terms.
A second easement decision covered 49 Lacewing Street, Rosewood. Council approved two easements over part of the land in favour of Urban Utilities for water and sewerage purposes, to service the adjoining approved residential development at 126 Nielsen Road, Rosewood. Again, councillors resolved that an exemption applies and delegated authority to the chief executive officer to finalise the terms.
The committee also noted higher spending on Contract 5326, Marie Street, Goodna, for embankment stabilisation works. The original contract value was $1,144,883.50 excluding GST and the approved contingency was $114,488.35 excluding GST. Unplanned works and delays, largely linked to Tropical Cyclone Alfred, pushed contingency expenditure to $1,098,225.39 excluding GST and lifted the total contract value to $2,243,108.89 excluding GST.
Councillors awarded Tender No. 260115-000777 to Objective Corporation Limited for Objective EDRMS and Objective Connect, approved a contractual arrangement and delegated implementation authority to the chief executive officer.
They also adopted revised Ipswich City Council Standing and Advisory Committee Terms of Reference after changes arising from the Multicultural Advisory Committee review. Councillor Pye Augustine was appointed as a member of the Finance and Governance Committee.
The meeting closed at 9.55am.
