Ipswich City Council adopted a new Corporate Plan for 2026-2031 at its ordinary meeting on 28 May, replacing the iFuture Corporate Plan 2021-2026 from 1 July. The same meeting also saw councillors issue an infrastructure offset notice of $11,451,973.08 for works linked to Collingwood Drive and Eagle Street.

The meeting was held in the council chambers at the Administration Building, 1 Nicholas Street, Ipswich.

Councillors also approved a reward of up to $2,000 for information about the desecration and damage of the Ebbw Vale Memorial Honour Stone. The reward applies if the information leads to a conviction or a finding of guilt, and the chief executive officer was given delegation to administer it.

A deferred notice of motion on the naming of the Nicholas Street Precinct Car Park was withdrawn after consultation results were noted, including input from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. No naming change proceeded at the meeting.

Council adopted block recommendations from the Audit and Risk Management, Infrastructure, Planning and Assets, Finance and Governance, Community and Sport, Economic and Cultural Development, and Environment and Sustainability committees.

Among those items, councillors approved easements for sewerage purposes at 214 Chermside Road, Basin Pocket, and for sewerage and water purposes at 49 Lacewing Street, Rosewood. The Central SEQ Distributor-Retailer Authority, Urban Utilities, is the other party to both matters, and the CEO was authorised to negotiate and finalise the terms.

Council also noted that Contract 5326 for Marie Street, Goodna embankment stabilisation works had exceeded its approved contingency. The minutes record a total contract value of $2,243,108.89 ex-GST, up from an original contract value of $1,144,883.50 ex-GST and an approved contingency of $114,488.35 ex-GST.

The Finance and Governance Committee report also amended wording for temporary access to council controlled land. The change adds the word 'vehicle' to the description of residential access, alongside trailers, boats, caravans and similar uses.
