Georges River panel backs 16 Peake Parade duplex after overturning refusal
Georges River Local Planning Panel changed Council’s refusal and approved DA2026/0012 for 16 Peake Parade, Peakhurst, covering demolition, a dual occupancy, pools, landscaping and subdivision.
Georges River Local Planning Panel has changed Council’s refusal and approved a dual-occupancy redevelopment at 16 Peake Parade, Peakhurst, in a unanimous decision on 4 June 2026.
The panel granted development consent to DA2026/0012 after reviewing Council’s refusal determination under REV2026/0012. The application covers demolition, construction of an attached two-storey dual occupancy, swimming pools, landscaping, site works and subdivision on Lot 292 in DP 36537.
The panel said the proposal was permissible in the zone, complied with the relevant environmental planning instruments, was consistent with the Georges River Development Control Plan 2021, and would not result in unreasonable environmental or amenity impacts. Consent was given subject to the conditions recommended in the review report.
In the same meeting, the panel refused DA2026/0004 for 18-20 Peake Parade and 2 Pearce Avenue, Peakhurst. That application sought alterations and additions to a residential flat building under Housing SEPP 2021.
The panel noted the plans before it were the plans lodged with the Land and Environment Court as a deemed refusal. It also agreed with the Statement of Facts and Contentions filed on 8 April 2026. The refusal was unanimous.
There were no speakers for either Peakhurst item. The panel inspected the sites and nearby localities before deliberating, and the public part of the meeting closed at 4.05pm.
The minutes also record another unanimous decision at the meeting: development consent for alterations and additions to the Royal Hotel at 314-318 Railway Parade and 1 Jubilee Avenue, Carlton, subject to amended conditions.
For the hotel, the panel deleted conditions 45 and 79, amended the signage condition, added a revised Plan of Management condition, and added a housing and productivity contribution condition. The minutes say the contribution is $2,492.48, with a transport project component of $0, payable before the first construction certificate, subject to adjustment under the relevant order.
The meeting opened at 4.00pm and ended at 4.25pm. The minutes record no apologies and no declarations of pecuniary interest.
