Georges River Council sends draft 2026-27 budget and plans to public exhibition

Residents will be able to comment on Georges River Council’s draft budget, fees, delivery program and resourcing strategy for at least 28 days before submissions return to councillors in June.

Georges River Council has endorsed its draft 2026-27 budget and a suite of related planning documents for public exhibition, according to minutes from its 28 April meeting.

The exhibition package includes the Draft Delivery Program 2025-2029, Operational Plan 2026/27, Budget 2026/27, Fees and Charges 2026/27 and Draft Resourcing Strategy. The minutes state the documents will be exhibited for at least 28 days, with submissions to be reported to the June 2026 council meeting.

The decision opens a formal feedback period on proposed spending, fees, capital works and service priorities across the council area.

The same meeting also advanced several other planning and infrastructure matters. Council adopted the final draft Blakehurst and Kogarah Bay Ward Overland Flow Flood Study, approved legal notation on 10.7 Planning Certificates for identified properties, and resolved to publish the study on its website.

Councillors also endorsed the Draft Riverwood Local Centre Master Plan for public exhibition, and resolved to send the Mortdale Centre Master Plan Planning Proposal to the state government for Gateway Determination before public exhibition alongside a draft amendment to the Georges River Development Control Plan 2021.

In parks planning, council adopted the Carss Bush Park and Todd Park Master Plan and Plan of Management, including an option to upgrade and retain the existing Men’s Shed in its current location. It also recommended the Draft Penshurst Town Centre Public Domain Plan for public exhibition and community consultation.
