Georges River Council has endorsed its draft 2026-27 budget and related planning documents for public exhibition, opening the way for residents to comment on proposed spending, fees, capital works and service priorities.

The decision was made at the council meeting on 28 April. The package approved for exhibition includes the Draft Delivery Program 2025-2029, Operational Plan 2026/27, Budget 2026/27, Fees and Charges 2026/27 and Draft Resourcing Strategy.

For ratepayers and service users, the exhibition period is the formal chance to examine the council’s proposed priorities and costs for the next financial year. The minutes indicate the documents cover spending, fees, capital works and broader service planning.

The public exhibition must run for at least 28 days. Any submissions received during that period are to be reported back to council at its June 2026 meeting.

The budget item sat within a broader meeting that also advanced several other planning and infrastructure matters. Councillors adopted action on the Blakehurst and Kogarah Bay overland flow flood study, backed public exhibition for the Riverwood Local Centre Master Plan, and progressed planning work in Mortdale and on an Affordable Housing Contribution Scheme proposal.

Council also adopted the Carss Bush Park and Todd Park Master Plan and Plan of Management, and recommended the Draft Penshurst Town Centre Public Domain Plan proceed to exhibition and community consultation.

Separate funding and budget changes were also approved at the meeting for The Green Sporting Amenity, Endeavour Street Seawall Reconstruction design, Stage 1 of the Indoor Multisport Stadium Strategic Business Case, and a $7,500 sponsorship for the Autism Community Network Gala Dinner.
