Georges River Council has resolved to forward Planning Proposal No.2026/0002 for the Moomba to Sydney Ethane pipeline hazard analysis to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure for Gateway Determination and public exhibition, after meeting in Hurstville on 23 March 2026.

The proposal is tied to land use and safety planning near the pipeline corridor. It cannot proceed to exhibition until the state department makes its Gateway Determination.

Council also adopted Planning Proposal PP2024/0006 to reclassify the north-western portion of Moore Park, Beverley Park, from community land to operational land, and forwarded it to the department for finalisation and gazettal.

That puts two planning proposals before the state in the same meeting, both dealing with land status and future controls.

The Moore Park decision affects the future use and management of council land in Beverley Park. The pipeline proposal is the one with direct safety and planning implications for land near the corridor.

The March meeting also endorsed the draft Community Engagement Strategy 2026-2036 after public exhibition and delegated authority for minor administrative amendments.

Council adopted the revised Interactions with Children and Young People Policy and approved a minor amendment to the Library Use and Membership Policy, raising the age children can use the library unattended from 10 to 12 years.

Event grants were approved for two April celebrations: $8,140 for Oatley RSL Sub-Branch’s Anzac Day Dawn Service and Family Day, and $20,000 for the Greek Orthodox Parish & Community of Kogarah & District’s Orthodox Easter event.

Traffic and parking changes were also adopted, including a six-month Kiss & Ride extension on Ecole Street in Carlton, timed left-turn restrictions between Princes Highway, Ecole Street and Ecole Lane, and changes to parking restrictions at Othello Street, Blakehurst.

Council also approved six-month trials to bring forward waste collection start times in the Bonds Road and Stoney Creek Road areas, and made permanent start-time changes on Broadarrow Road, Connells Point Road, Forest Road, Dover Park East and Swanns Lane.
