Georges River Council’s Assets and Infrastructure Committee met at the Georges River Civic Centre in Hurstville on 11 May 2026 and unanimously backed a draft verge management policy, $90,000 for Mortdale streetscape work, a stage two playspace upgrade at Carss Bush Park and a series of parking changes in Peakhurst and Lugarno.

The verge management policy will be placed on public exhibition for not less than 28 days. Residents, stakeholders and experts in environmental sustainability will be able to comment before the council receives a further report after the exhibition closes.

The committee endorsed the draft policy and asked for it to come back after feedback is considered. The minutes do not spell out the policy details, but they show it is intended to guide how roadside verges are managed across the Georges River Council area.

In Mortdale, the committee noted the findings of a streetscape enhancement investigation and approved non-budgeted capital expenditure of $90,000 in the 2026/27 financial year. The minutes describe the item as installation of enhancements to the Mortdale streetscape.

Carss Bush Park Playspace Upgrade Stage 2 also cleared the committee. Members noted the results of community engagement and endorsed the concept design to proceed to detailed design and construction.

Parking changes recommended by the Local Transport Forum were adopted too. In Peakhurst, the committee backed No Stopping restrictions at the intersection of Baumans Road and Meadowland Road, and 1/2P parking restrictions on the southern side of Meadowland Road near Baumans Road.

In Lugarno, No Parking restrictions on Woodlands Avenue east of Boronia Parade will be converted to No Stopping restrictions. The No Stopping zone fronting No. 93 Woodlands Avenue will also be extended by about 2 metres.

The committee also confirmed the minutes of its 13 April 2026 meeting. Every motion listed in the minutes was carried unanimously.
