Burwood Council endorses six-month performance report covering 2026 delivery
The report tracks Council services and initiatives from 1 January to 30 June 2026 under NSW integrated planning and reporting requirements.
Burwood residents have a formal progress update on Council services and initiatives for the first half of 2026, after Burwood Council unanimously endorsed its Half-Yearly Report for 1 January to 30 June.
The report covers progress under Council’s Delivery Program and was presented under the NSW Government’s Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework. Deputy Mayor Pascale Esber moved the endorsement, which was seconded by Councillor De Yi Wu-Coshott.
The report is part of Council’s scheduled performance and corporate reporting cycle. Its stated purpose is to track the delivery of services and initiatives and support transparency, accountability, compliance and probity in Council decision-making.
It also relates to Council’s obligations under the Local Government Act and its operational action to plan, monitor and report on services and initiatives across the Burwood Local Government Area.
The report does not introduce a new charge, development approval or Council-wide policy. It provides a public checkpoint on Council activity during the first six months of the year.
Other decisions considered alongside the report included Council’s receipt and noting of the NSW Government’s Statewide Community Participation Plan, which commenced on 1 September 2026. The plan establishes standardised arrangements for planning notifications, public exhibitions and community participation across NSW.
Council also authorised the General Manager to finalise an amended Voluntary Planning Agreement covering 17 George Street, 21 George Street and 28-34 Victoria Street, Burwood. The developer must pay the monetary contribution under the updated schedule. The existing agreement provides for an $8 million contribution towards open space, community facilities, public infrastructure or other public purposes determined by Council.
The endorsed reporting period remains 1 January to 30 June 2026 and will form part of Council’s ongoing reporting of its Delivery Program and services.
