Tathra Wharf restoration moves ahead with $245,394 contract and $330,000-plus funding

Restoration of Tathra Wharf’s Cargo Building can proceed under a $245,394.44 contract awarded to Bega Valley Construction Pty Ltd, alongside more than $330,000 in approved project funding arrangements.

Bega Valley Shire Council accepted the company’s tender for works listed under request for quotation RFQ 2526-077. The contract amount includes GST and is subject to variations, provisional sums and prime cost items.

The project funding includes a $245,000 carryover of unused capital expenditure from 2025/26 into 2026/27. Council also approved an $85,000 budget increase funded from the asset replacement reserve.

The chief executive officer has authority to execute the contract documents, approve variations up to the available allocated budget and authorise extensions allowed under the contract. Any variations and amendments must be managed under Council’s existing financial delegations.

All eight councillors present voted for the contract and funding arrangements. They were Mitchell Nadin, Tony Allen, Simon Daly, Peter Haggar, Clair Mudaliar, Peggy Noble, Helen O’Neil and David Porter. Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick was absent.

The contract decision directs construction spending to Bega Valley Construction for restoration of a public wharf facility. The approved amount does not include a completion date, details of the individual restoration tasks or information about workers and subcontractors.

All tenderers are to be advised of the outcome. Contract documentation, variations and any extensions will be handled under the authorities and funding conditions approved by Council.
