Ballina Shire Council has approved a development application for alterations and additions at the Bunjum Aboriginal Child and Family Centre at 10 Hayman Street, Ballina.
According to the minutes of the 23 April 2026 ordinary meeting, councillors granted consent for DA 2025/525 covering works to the existing centre-based childcare and community facility.
The approved works include extending the driveway, creating a new crossover and adding a bus drop-off and pick-up area at the site.
Council resolved to grant consent subject to non-standard conditions set out in an attachment to the report, along with standard planning, environmental health, civil and building conditions for this type of development.
The resolution was carried unanimously, with Cr Phil Meehan recorded as absent and not voting on the item.
