Waverley records parks feedback as Victoria Park and Bondi Park projects advance
Council noted Round 1 consultation feedback on the Local Parks Plan of Management while also advancing the Victoria Park Playground Upgrade, the Bondi Park Basketball Half Court and a $119,600 planning agreement for 96 - 104 Ebley Street.
Waverley Council has noted community feedback from the first round of consultation on its Local Parks Plan of Management, formally recording resident input before further parks planning work is taken up across Bondi Junction, Victoria Park, Bondi Park and North Bondi.
The parks item was carried unanimously. A foreshadowed motion from Cr Wy Kanak, which would have asked council to consider issues raised by the First Nations community in future consultations on the plan in relation to Crown land legislation amendments, lapsed before the simpler note was adopted.
The same meeting also approved the design for the Victoria Park Playground Upgrade and endorsed the Bondi Park Basketball Half Court Concept Design Option 1 as the preferred design for the purposes of progressing a Review of Environmental Factors and later approval.
At 96 - 104 Ebley Street, Bondi Junction, council approved a planning agreement that includes a total monetary contribution of $119,600. The funds are to be allocated to the Waverley Bike Strategy and the draft Waverley Walking Strategy, and the General Manager was authorised to execute the agreement.
The meeting also approved refined intersection improvements at Blair Street and Wairoa Avenue, North Bondi, under the Bondi Local Area Traffic Management Project. Cr Steven Lewis declared a less than significant non-pecuniary interest in that item because he owns properties on the corner of Wairoa Avenue and Wallis Parade.
For the parks program, the key point is that consultation feedback has been formally noted before the next round of planning decisions is made. Victoria Park and Bondi Park projects are now moving into detailed design and, in the case of the basketball half court, construction planning.
The Bondi Park item also included a review of the allocation of $155,000 to the project as part of the first quarter budget review. The Victoria Park Playground Upgrade was approved with authority for non-significant design changes during detailed design, while any significant changes will require council approval.
