Wanneroo electors reject Addison Park rebuild and back new master plan
City of Wanneroo electors voted 21 to 0 to abandon plans to redevelop Addison Park in Merriwa and start a new community master planning process.
City of Wanneroo electors have voted to abandon the current and proposed redevelopment of Addison Park in Merriwa and replace it with a new master plan. The motion passed 21 votes for at the Annual General Meeting of Electors on 5 February 2026.
The motion called on council to abandon any current and proposed plans to redevelop Addison Park as a senior sport open space and instead prepare a new master plan with community engagement. The minutes record 21 votes for the motion.
Addison Park was one of 14 general business motions dealt with at the meeting, which also covered waste, traffic, accessibility and financial matters. The annual report and audited financial statements for 2024-25 were noted and passed 20 votes for and 13 against.
The meeting was held at 6pm in the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre on Dundebar Road, Wanneroo. A total of 36 verified registered electors, including council members, were in attendance.
Other motions carried included a request for the City to work with Cycling Without Age Perth to secure a storage site for trishaw e-bikes within four months, and a call for Woodvale Drive to be reduced from 50 km/h to 40 km/h. Electors also backed motions opposing waste-to-energy incineration in the Neerabup Industrial Area and calling for an independent investigation into the Neerabup Resource Recovery Precinct.
The Addison Park motion puts the park’s future back into a fresh planning process. The site is in Merriwa, and the minutes say the new master plan would involve community engagement.
The meeting also included motions on bollards in Manoora Court and Mooree Lane, legal support for incorporated ratepayers groups, e-vehicle bans on bridle paths and equine exercise areas, and concerns about the Tamala Park landfill and the Mindarie Regional Council.
