City of Vincent backs $20,000 Revelation film festival grant
City of Vincent approved its 2026/27 event sponsorship program at Tuesday’s briefing, including $20,000 for Revelation Perth International Film Festival Inc.
City of Vincent approved its 2026/27 event sponsorship program at its 12 May 2026 council briefing in Leederville, with $20,000 allocated to Revelation Perth International Film Festival Inc.
Councillors clarified the recommendation so the City was approving grant funding, not in-kind support.
The event funding was one of several decisions taken at the briefing. Council approved a designated Safe Trading Site at 62 Frame Court Carpark, Leederville, and authorised the Chief Executive Officer to administer and enforce its operation.
It also adopted an amended Investment Policy after public advertising, accepted The Factory Australia Pty Ltd for RFT CB541/2026 Christmas Lights Installations, and approved a draft Local Area Traffic Management Policy for consultation.
For residents, the event sponsorship sends public money to local cultural programming, while the Safe Trading Site affects a public carpark in Leederville. The traffic policy will also go out for community consultation.
Council agreed to advertise its intention to levy differential rates and minimum payments for 2026/27, with submissions invited from electors and ratepayers over a 21-day notice period. The notice covers residential, vacant, other and short-term rental properties.
The briefing also adopted the Long Term Financial Plan 2026/27 to 2035/36 and authorised the partial acquisition of 1/12 of Lot 807 from Catalina Regional Council for nil consideration. The Mayor and Chief Executive Officer were authorised to execute the transfer.
Council received the financial statements for the month ended 31 March 2026 and noted the list of accounts paid under delegated authority, including EFT/payroll of $11,775,138.54 and direct debits of $416,293.14.
Planning matters were also on the agenda. In North Perth, council considered conditions for alterations and additions to a place of worship at 188 Vincent Street, including 95 formal parking bays, 28 informal overflow bays, 11 short-term bicycle spaces, 23 long-term bicycle spaces and a Construction Management Plan.
