West Nowra drivers closer to Yalwal Road upgrade

Road widening, intersection upgrades, signage and linemarking on Yalwal Road and Filter Road can progress after the Forum raised no objection to the West Nowra proposal.

Road widening and intersection work on Yalwal Road and Filter Road in West Nowra has cleared an approval step, with the project covering the route from George Evans Road to and including the Filter Road intersection.

The Shoalhaven Local Transport Forum raised no objection to the proposal, which includes road widening, an intersection upgrade, signage and linemarking under Plan No. D26/290812. The recommendation was approved by the acting Director City Services under Shoalhaven City Council’s delegated authority on 15 July 2026.

No construction start date, delivery timetable, project cost or contractor has been provided.

Transport for NSW queried No Stopping arrows shown in both directions on Sheet 8, asking whether the restriction continued from Sheet 7. Council staff confirmed that the No Stopping restriction continues through to the next intersection.

TfNSW also asked about a W2-7 sign marked as new. Council staff advised that the sign is not part of the current project and will be included in a future stage and reviewed by the Local Transport Forum at that time.

The supported works will affect the Yalwal Road corridor and the intersection with Filter Road. The scope includes changes to the road layout, roadside signage and linemarking, although the details of traffic arrangements during construction have not been provided.

The recommendation was carried by consent after the Forum considered the project on 14 July. The current works will proceed in accordance with Plan No. D26/290812, while the W2-7 sign remains outside the project’s present scope.

A separate traffic-control proposal for 4 Beinda Street, Bomaderry, was also approved. It covers Loading Zone and No Stopping signage associated with development application DA24/1326, under signage plan D26/289713. That recommendation was also approved by the acting Director City Services on 15 July.
