Shoalhaven City Council’s Local Transport Forum has backed two transport changes in one sitting, clearing a mobility parking upgrade at Wason Street Car Park in Ulladulla and the 2026 Berry Celtic Festival Street Parade. Both recommendations were later approved by the Director City Services under delegated authority.

The forum met on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, in the Manyana Meeting Room at the City Administrative Centre in Nowra. It raised no objection to proposed regulatory signage and linemarking for a mobility parking space in Wason Street Car Park, provided the shared accessible area includes a bollard.

TfNSW’s Ms Emma Pietruska suggested the bollard, saying it should sit with the linemarking and comply with Australian Standard AS2890.6:2022 to deter illegal parking. Council staff accepted the suggestion and noted it for inclusion.

The forum’s recommendation advised the chief executive officer, through the Director City Services, that it had reviewed the proposal linked to Plan No. D26/149025 and had no objection subject to the bollard being included. The recommendation was approved by the Director City Services on 13 May 2026.

The second item covered the Berry Celtic Festival Street Parade on 23 May 2026. Council staff told the forum the parade has been held yearly for several years and they were not aware of any previous issues with traffic or pedestrian movements.

Staff also said the parade is organised by Berry Rotary, which also coordinates the Christmas Parade and regularly manages similar events along comparable routes. They said the traffic management plan proposed for this year adds more traffic control than previous arrangements.

The forum raised no objection to the parade as submitted in Traffic Management Plan and Traffic Guidance Scheme No. D25/555279 and D26/191628. The recommendation was approved by the Director City Services on 13 May 2026.

For Berry residents, traders and visitors, the practical effect is temporary traffic, parking and pedestrian management around the parade route on 23 May. The meeting closed at 9:35am after five minutes of business.
