Scenic Rim Council adopts 2026-27 fees and revenue policy
Scenic Rim Regional Council adopted next year’s fees and charges register and revenue policy at its 27 May meeting, adding case-by-case wording to section 4.4(b)(iv).
Scenic Rim Regional Council has adopted its 2026-2027 Register of Fees and Charges and its 2026-2027 Revenue Policy after a 27 May ordinary meeting at the council chambers in Beaudesert. The revenue policy now includes wording in section 4.4(b)(iv) that allows a case-by-case approach.
The fees and charges register also includes an amendment to the entry for expert advice and assessment of technical reports by council-engaged external consultants or specialists. The entry now reads, "Price at cost with a minimum fee structure set at $2,346.00." Council delegated authority to the Chief Executive Officer to make minor grammatical and formatting changes if required.
Councillors also approved appointments to internal and external committees and forums for May 2026 to May 2027. The motion kept attendance notes for the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and divisional councillors, but removed information under Tamborine Mountain Sports Association Ltd, Board until the entity structure is resolved and matches Council's land tenure agreement.
Council authorised payment of all reasonable costs for councillor representatives attending those committees and forums. It also authorised payment of reasonable travel, accommodation and incidental costs for councillors who attend the 2026 Australian Local Government Women's Association National 75th Anniversary Conference in Manly, New South Wales, on 20-22 August 2026.
The estimated cost of attending the conference is $3,439.09 per person, GST inclusive. If councillors attend, the attending councillor or councillors must later bring back a report on initiatives and outcomes.
On the finance side, Council approved the Quarter Three Operational Plan 2025-2026 Progress Report and the Quarter Three 2025-2026 Service Delivery Report. It also noted the March 2026 update on the 2025-2026 Infrastructure Capital Works Program, the Auditor-General’s interim report for 2025-2026, the unaudited monthly financial report for April 2026 and the Audit and Risk Committee report from 19 March.
A late item saw Council adopt the 2025-2026 Quarter Three (March) Budget Review, including revised financial statements and revised relevant measures of financial sustainability. Another late item delegated authority to the Chief Executive Officer to take steps to resolve Council’s interests in Planning and Environment Court appeal MCU23/103, relating to 38 Queen Street, Harrisville, after a without prejudice conference.
The meeting also dealt with confidential employee matters, Bromelton landfill airspace and leachate requirements, and consideration of the strategic disposal of land in closed session. The public minutes do not disclose details of those matters.
