Toowoomba council sets late-January and early-February deadlines for state and federal budget bids
Toowoomba Regional Council will send pre-budget submissions for the 2026/27 Budget to Canberra and Brisbane within the next two weeks, as it seeks support for regional projects and services.
Toowoomba Regional Council has set deadlines to lodge pre-budget submissions to the Australian and Queensland governments for the 2026/27 Budget cycle.
At its 20 January meeting, councillors agreed to provide a submission to the Australian Government by 30 January 2026 and to the Queensland Government by 6 February 2026. The decision was made under a mayoral minute.
The minutes do not itemise the projects or funding requests to be included in the submissions. They do show the council is formally preparing its case to both levels of government ahead of their budget processes.
For residents across the Toowoomba Region, the submissions are part of how council seeks outside funding for infrastructure, services and other regional priorities, rather than relying only on its own budget.
The same meeting also received the Mayor's Monthly Report for January 2026, which included advocacy on government support for racquet hub investment in the Toowoomba Region. That report points to at least one area where council is pursuing backing beyond its own resources.
The next steps are the preparation and lodgement of the two submissions by the dates adopted at the meeting, first to the Australian Government and then to the Queensland Government.
