North West Orange Rural Fire Brigade gets $2,000 as council approves local donations
The brigade’s annual open day is among 10 local activities sharing $22,217 in donations approved by Orange City Council.
North West Orange Rural Fire Brigade will receive $2,000 for its annual open day under a $22,217 package of donations approved by Orange City Council for 10 local organisations.
The Canobolas Highland Pipe Band Inc will receive $1,500 for uniform items for new members and new equipment. Orange Woodworkers Men’s Shed Inc was allocated $1,220 for a Sorby sharpening system, while Rotary Club of Orange Inc received $2,500 for the Orange Sustainable Living Expo.
Housing Plus will receive $2,500 for Shop Local vouchers to be used as prizes at fundraising activities for the White Tie Ball. Orange Older Women’s Network received $2,500 for its activities and community outreach programs.
The Country Education Foundation of Orange and District was approved for $2,500 to help school-leavers from disadvantaged backgrounds access further education. Gnoo Blas Classic Car Club Orange received $2,000 for an event, and Midnight on Molloy - Halloween Display received $2,497.
Allegri Singers Inc will receive $1,000 for professional vocal soloists for a major choral and orchestral performance in December 2026. Councillors reduced the amount from a recommended $2,000.
Two applications were deferred. Carousel Kids Preloved Market’s $1,724 request will be considered in the next Small Donations round on 1 December 2026. Orange Regional Malayalee Association’s $2,500 request for its Onam festival was deferred while Council seeks clarification.
Council also approved $10,000 each for Orange Chamber Music and the Orange Wine Festival and Show. Chamber Music is scheduled for 11 to 14 March 2027. The festival and show dates are 19 to 24 September and 16 to 25 October 2026.
Gnoo Blas Classic Car Club is gathering information for a proposal to change the use of the corner block of Sir Jack Brabham Park. The proposal has not been approved.
