Liverpool City Council unanimously backed Connection Camp at its ordinary meeting on 25 February, approving up to $2,500 for Council buses and branding support for the youth program. Mayor Ned Mannoun is also to write to organisers acknowledging the program's value to Liverpool young people.

Cr Ammoun moved the urgency motion, saying the event was scheduled for 14-15 April 2026 and needed transport arranged before it was promoted to families. Councillors supported the motion without dissent.

The resolution says Council will acknowledge Connection Camp and Wanderers Foundation, support the project through Council branding, and provide the bus funding under the Grants, Donations and Community Sponsorship Policy.

The minutes describe Connection Camp as a free sports and friendship camp for children aged 7 to 12, delivered by the Western Sydney Wanderers and Wests Tigers at the Wests Tigers Centre of Excellence. Council officers said Wanderers Foundation met the eligibility criteria for the funding.

The night also brought a broader round of community funding decisions. Council later endorsed $23,580 in community grants and $28,950 in community sponsorships for local projects and events, including women’s health activity, multicultural festivals and a community musical event.

Elsewhere in the meeting, councillors adopted a revised Busking Policy, reinstated the Holy Mother Mary project in Bigge Park, backed a Woodward Park activation trial and approved the quarter two budget review.

The Connection Camp motion was one of several urgent or time-sensitive items dealt with on the night. Councillors also considered governance and planning motions, with some motions lost or deferred.

The next step is for the Mayor to write to Connection Camp as soon as practicable after the meeting, and for the approved support to be put in place before the 14-15 April event.
