Gold Coast capital projects advance, but two infrastructure programs still need funding approval
The draft four-year program has entered the 2026 - 27 budget process, while funding for city-wide and emerging-community projects remains subject to further reports and approved sources.
Gold Coast councillors have advanced a draft capital program covering 2026 - 27 to 2029 - 30, but funding for two infrastructure programs remains subject to further reports and approval of funding sources.
The City Wide Service Orientated Infrastructure program requires a further Council report before its funding can proceed. Funding for all projects in the Emerging Community Infrastructure Fund program also requires further reporting and approval.
The draft Four Year Capital Expenditure Program was endorsed for inclusion in the budget process. Projects listed in it remain subject to further scrutiny and adoption of the annual budget.
Detailed draft budget reports and attachments remain confidential unless the Chief Executive Officer decides otherwise, leaving project-by-project allocations undisclosed.
At Pizzey Park, the proposed Action Sports Hub will receive funding in 2026 - 27 for concept design and costing. The support does not commit the full construction cost. Any further funding will depend on a future report on the outcomes of that work.
The committee also considered infrastructure associated with the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Council directed officers to seek state and federal funding, as well as appropriate private investment, for the projects. Projects that are not fully funded are to be considered in the 2026 - 27 and future budget processes.
Council also resolved to consider the impacts identified in an oil-crisis report during the 2026 - 27 operating-budget process. The City Administration Crisis Management Team must report monthly on ongoing impacts through the Governance, Administration and Finance Committee, starting with meeting round 868.
Remaining matters, including deferred budget business, were deferred to the Special Budget Committee meeting scheduled for 7 May 2026. No final rates or charge amounts were adopted at this meeting.
